
Ian Dury was a fascinating character and a unique Artist who gave the English language modern-day clichés in the aptly named album title “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll” and “Reasons To Be Cheerful”.
Now the subject of the critically acclaimed biopic “Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll” starring Andy Serkis as Ian Dury alongside Naomi Harris and Ray Winstone in cinemas from the 8th January, the film focuses on his personal relationships during his rise to fame, as well as how he dealt with and overcame his disability.
January 2010 sees the release of a new collection of his best known and biggest recordings. Demon release ‘Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll – The Essential Collection’ featuring 20 recordings, including “What A Waste”, “Reasons To Be Cheerful (Part 3)”, “I Want To Be Straight”, as well as the No. 1 “Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick” and the title track to the forthcoming film “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll”…the album also features extended versions of "Reasons To Be Cheerful (Part 3)" and
a hard to find “Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick”.
